Rue Marie Stuart

how to wear a fur coat in paris

This is my first outfit post in Paris! 🙂 I finally received my camera charger and battery so I will finally start sharing my adventures in this magical city!

I wanted to start my first Paris outfit post in the area around my apartment so I can introduce you to my surroundings.  Rue Marie Stuart is a small street just outside of my apartment building that leads to the famous Rue Montorgueil.  I was so happy when I discovered that I’m staying so close to it because it is lined with bread, cheese, butcher, wine, and flower shops; I’ll have everything I need to feel right at home!  The thing I’m bummed about is the weather. I know I have complained before about it not being cold at home, but I really miss California weather right now, I haven’t even seen the sun since I left home.  I do enjoy wearing fur and gloves though. 😉  On another note, I get to be here during the sales which are madness, just like Black Friday; but I scored these awesome boots that I’m wearing in this post! 😉  Stay tuned for my next post; I will share my experience at Chateau de Versailles…

Ecole Lesage

Greetings from Paris! I haven’t been able to post a look here in Paris yet because, of course, my clumsy self forgot the charger and battery to my camera.  However, they are on their way in the mail, so I will be posting looks and photos of my experience here soon! 😉  Instead, I thought I’d share a little info about my first day of class at the Ecole Lesage.  Lesage is a small school that specializes in Haute Couture embroidery, and it is owned by Chanel.  For many years, they have worked on the embroidery for many of the couture shows for designers such as Balmain, Dior, Balenciaga, and Chanel.  I feel so lucky to have the opportunity to learn from the masters.  Below are some photos I took of my tote with the Lesage logo and my homework for the first day of class…

Au Revoir!

Zig-Zaggin

thelioninjewels

Hello everyone!  I am excited to finally announce that I will be attending the prestigious Ecole Lesage in Paris for an Haute Couture embroidery course in about two weeks!  I will have more details about the school later, but if you’re not already, make sure to start following my blog and on Instagram in the next couple of days to experience this exciting adventure with me! 😉

Now, about my outfit…there’s really nothing special about it except that I always wear something similar to this when I’m out and about running errands.  I feel most comfortable when I’m wearing skinny jeans, boots, and a sweater or jacket.  I especially love this Missoni for Target cardigan because it’s cozy, warm, and I can never get enough of Missoni’s zig-zag pattern.  I noticed that I almost always end up wearing black, brown, and gold when I’m in a hurry to get dressed; they’re colors that are so easy to mix & match.  On another note, I also got a new camera! I had been using my dad’s, but I finally went out and bought my own.  I’m not really used to it yet, but I think the photos are much better; don’t you think so? 😉

In the Jungle, the Mighty Jungle…

thelioninjewels

Hello everyone!  I know I’ve been gone for a while, but it’s been pretty hectic with the holidays and all.  I also have some very exciting news, which I’ll share with you all very soon! 😉  Anyway, it was finally cold and rainy this weekend so I was excited to wear my faux fur coat.  I just love fur, there is something about it that gives any outfit a touch of sophistication.  Since it was raining, I decided to wear it with this tiger print beanie which I purchased at Urban Outfitters a couple of weeks ago.  I figured my look resembled a wild animal, so I chose to shoot my photos at a jungle-inspired walkway at the Disneyland Hotel.  Towards the end, the wilderness was getting to me and I was letting my inner tiger out. (As you’ll notice in the last photo) 😉 Raaawwr!

Viva Chanel!

chanel tweed jacket street style

Last night, Andres and I went to see the Fiesta Navidad show with Mariachi Los Camperos at the Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa.  It was so much fun to hear and sing-along to all our favorite Christmas songs, Mariachi-style!  And, of course, we also got to sing-along to the classic songs, such as Viva Mexico! 😉  Unfortunately, we weren’t allowed to take pictures of the show, but we did have a chance to take a quick shoot of my outfit for the night.  I chose this gorgeous Chanel jacket that my boss gifted to me from Socialite Auctions.  I layered it with a striped, button-down blouse and a gold, metallic top.  I finished the look with my glitter, platform heels from Steve Madden; which are pretty painful to walk in (Ay, Ay, Ay!) but I love the 70’s vibe of them. 🙂

Well, until next time…Adios Amigos!

The Caped Crusader

how to wear a cape street style

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend filled with family, food, and shopping! Unfortunately, I didn’t shop but I did have plenty of pumpkin pie! 😉

Capes aren’t just for superheroes and wizards anymore, but when I was a little girl, wearing a cape meant I was someone with super powers.  Well, that feeling is still somewhat there when I wear a cape today; for some reason, it gives me a boost of confidence and I feel like I can take on the world. 😉  There is also something about wearing a cape that makes me feel polished and ladylike; which is the look I aimed for with this outfit.  I wore it with a bow-tie blouse and velvet pants to add a touch of sophistication.  I also got to borrow my mom’s Reed Krakoff bag. (Score!) 😉

The Girl With No Name

I’ve had this southwestern-inspired poncho for about 2 years but I can never get enough of it.  It’s not only cozy, it can instantly add a little drama to any outfit whether it’s over a t-shirt or a dress.  I almost always like to wear the poncho with my Pendleton hat; for some reason it makes me feel more confident, and somewhat powerful. 😉  It also makes me feel like I’m in a Clint Eastwood film, so as always, since we were hanging out at Disney, we thought, what better setting for this look than the Old West at Disney’s California Adventure? 😉
